The predecessor of Jiangsu Dasheng Group Co., Ltd. was Dasheng cotton mill. It was founded in 1895 by Zhang Jian, a scholar in the late Qing Dynasty and a modern industrialist in China. In August 29, 1966, it changed its name to "state-run Nantong first cotton mill", or "Tong cotton first factory" for short.
